Our Story
Chiquis Cocina was a dream a long time in the making. After moving to Missouri in 1994 to pursue a a career in the pharmaceutical field, Chiquis longed for the culture and flavors that were so dear to her. Putting her cooking skills to use, she became famous for her Sinaloa Mexico style of cooking. Her lifelong dream was to share this style and flavors with everyone who longed for something different in Southwest Missouri. In short, she not only wanted to share her food, but more importantly her knowledge of the culture and the history behind each dish. From the start, she insisted her place would be different from what most people were used to.
Chiquis goal was to find a quiet and peaceful place to open a restaurant to make this dream come true. A place where people could feel at home and enjoy an excellent meal in a relaxed setting. Chiquis and her husband Paul purchased a property in Marionville in the spring of 2021 and extensive renovations were completed including handicapped parking and a large outdoor seating area. A brand new kitchen was installed and in July of 2022, the dream became a reality!
